President’s spring 2026 newsletter

Dear Twin Lakes Property Owners Association members,

I would like to introduce myself. My name is David Holcomb, and I am the new president of the association. I hope everyone has had a wonderful time during the winter. It is springtime in the Sierras, and for many of us, our thoughts turn to visiting and enjoying our little slice of paradise.

With fishing season right around the corner (Fishmas is April 25), I am going to start something new and see how it goes. If it is successful, maybe we can make it an annual event. Many of us enjoy fishing and sharing the experience with family, children, grandchildren, and other family members who visit during the year. We will have a contest this year. The homeowner or family member who catches the largest fish over the spring and summer in either Upper or Lower Twin Lake will receive a $100 U.S. savings bond. To enter the contest, the lucky angler must submit a photograph to the association along with all the particulars including date, weight, length, and what lake it was caught in. Fish can be weighed at either Mono Village or Twin Lakes Resort. The picture will be used on our website (twinlakespropertyowners.com). All entries need to be submitted by Labor Day, September 7. Entries and photographs should be sent to david@holcombs.net.

As a reminder, the free fishing days for 2026 in California are Saturday, July 4, and Saturday, September 5. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife allows anyone age 16 or older to fish in public waters without a sport fishing license on those dates.

This year we will hold our annual meeting on Friday, July 3, at 9 am at the Fire Station located across from the laundromat at Lower Twin Lake. The board members and I look forward to seeing everyone there. Bridgeport Fire Chief Nick Way has committed to attending and taking questions. I am still working on getting some other speakers. The annual meeting is a great place to meet your neighbors, see old friends, and learn about the Fire Safety Council, Adopt-a-Highway program, lake cleanup and other activities in the community. We will also have elections for a new secretary and member at large this year, so please consider volunteering. You do not have to attend the meeting to be elected to a position.

*** As a reminder, if you have not done so already, please send along your membership dues of $100 to TLPOA, P.O. Box 623, Bridgeport, CA, 93517, by July 1. Membership runs from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. ***

As of this writing, the snowpack is the second worst on record. Because of this, we all must remember to conserve water, be fire-wise, and always be vigilant for any potential hazards.

Twin Lakes Enterprises has sent us an email requesting that it be sent out to our members. Below is the message. I am aware, as is TLE, that not all property owners are in our association, but this is also in our interest. We should all understand why they are worried about any changes to the shoreline causing problems with future runoff and erosion. TLE has been gracious enough to allow us to use their property for our watercraft and enjoyment during the fishing season. The least we can do is follow the rules, respect their wishes, and not tamper with the shoreline.

I hope this summer brings everyone joy and lots of BIG FISH! See you at the meeting.

Please be advised of the following:

It has come to our attention that a large number of property owners have taken it upon themselves to physically alter and change the shorelines along Upper Twin Lake. This includes the moving of a large number of rocks, the packing of dirt amongst rocks, and various other alterations to the beach areas. THIS IS ILLEGAL and will NO LONGER be tolerated. All alterations to the areas along the shoreline are in the process of being removed. Should ANY further activities of this kind be detected, on either lakefront, Twin Lakes Enterprises will be moving forward with a complete NO TRESPASSING restriction being placed upon the entirety of the lake shore property, which would completely ban any further watercraft being able to be stored on this private property at any time in the future. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy.
